Sandra, from emotional fatigue to being “full of energy”
“The thought of work fills me with fear” Sandra
Sandra is a solicitor in her early fourties, with a strong work ethos. She lives with her partner and their dog. Sandra is most happy when she spends time connecting with people. Sandra enjoys being in nature, doing yoga, and sea swimming.
“I felt so much shame when I did’nt have enough energy to do my work. I felt exhausted and fatigued for over two years” Sandra
Sandra enjoyed studying but found that training to become a solicitor very stressful. Sandra has had very close connections with her family, her mother, her father, and her sister. She also had a very strong connection with her grandmother.
Sandra first noticed that she was placing herself under a lot of pressure when she was at university. She felt strongly that she didn’t want to disappoint anyone. The stress of this would drive her into thought patterns and behaviours that were based on needing to please everyone else.
Sandra found herself over-giving to other people and thus not living her life based on decisions that would be in her best interests. She often found herself feeling resentment, which was often followed by the need to defend herself.
Stress melting away…
In childhood, Sandra’s father worked in London and would be gone all day and she would find herself being there for her mother supporting her emotional needs. These porous boundaries carried into several dysfunctional intimate relationships in her teens.
The anxieties and stress around needing external validation persisted into later life and came to a head in her late twenties and early thirties. The tension built up to a point where they caused a lot of stress, tension, and heaviness within Sandra’s physical body. Sandra became very tired and fatigued. She then received a formal diagnosis of myalgic encephalomyelitis / chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).
This was soul crushing for Sandra. She felt like she couldn’t go on with such a strong diagnosis. The symptoms became her and most days she found it difficult to even get out of bed. Eventually she realised that she needed a holistic approach to healing. Something that could help her go deep and discover who she really was beneath the labels and people pleasing.
Sandra experienced being drained of energy and debilitatingly fatigued. Then, she found herself feeling self-loathing and criticism around disappointing herself and other people. It is only through a holistic approach and change of perspective that she could truly begin to heal.
Sandra needed new boundaries for herself so that she could have room to explore who she really was and what made her feel well.
“I started the program two weeks ago and already feel so much more energy” Sandra
Sandra needed to find a new way of being so that there would be balance between her work life and the rest of her life. To create space to rest and develop clarity around her capacities so that she could live a more harmonious and nourishing existence.
Through the deeper work of Holistic Shadow Work, she has been able to embody a more balanced way of being, connect with her intuition to know what she needs, and embody self forgiveness!
Sandra was able to see what activated the well-worn patterns and reactions within her, and to understand more about her relationships with others and with herself. Then she could be more in her power, become sovereign, and make centred and conscious decisions about her own life.
“I love my new routine, I get in the sea and do yoga every morning” Sandra
Sandra has been able to speak her truth and step into her power. She has new boundaries with the people that she interacts with. She’s able to find connections based on love, whilst not seeking distraction or approval, or giving up on the things she needs to nourish herself.
Sandra has been able to work with long-held grief and pain so that she can listen and respond to her feelings in her physical body and her emotional being. Listening to these has enabled her to relieve stress and reduce inflammation dramatically.
“I feel full of energy and so much lighter” Sandra
